Innovative Education & Training for HCV providers

Hep C University is an educational website designed for providers seeking to learn the latest informaiton on the treatment of Hepatitis C. Using this site, treatment providers receive expert mentoring through the innovative HCV Fellows Program offered free of charge.

The majority of patients with hepatitis C are so-called “special populations,” those with addictions, mental illness, and the like. They can be challenging to educate, test, and treat, and few of us have the different skills needed to do it well.

The goal of HCV University is to change that. Our faculty are experts in the disciplines that span the real face of hepatitis C: hepatology, infectious disease, psychiatry, and addiction.

Offering a spectrum of free resources, from video-based CME lectures to key literature to patient education tools, to Hepatitis mentoring, HCVU provides you with the evidence-based information you need to address HCV in the most challenging patients. But these kinds of informational tools are often not enough. And so for those who would like more hands-on mentoring, we offer our flagship “HCV University Fellowship.” Offered to a limited number of interested providers, HCVU Fellows present their own cases to faculty mentors in interactive, web-based teleconferences. Structured much like medical rounds, fellows develop HCV expertise by learning directly from our faculty experts as well as each other.

HCV University is a project of OASIS, a not-for-profit community-based clinic located in Oakland, CA. We gratefully acknowledge the support of Roche Pharmaceuticals, which provided an educational grant in support of this program. Whether you are a seasoned treater or new to the field, we hope you find this website useful.
