Module 5: HCV/HIV Coinfection
 
HCV Epidemiology: Learn about the latest information on the treatment of Hepatitis C, HCV/HIV Coinfection in this module.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants should able to:
  • Compare the epidemiology of hepatitis C and HIV infections
  • Compare the natural history of persons with HIV monoinfection and persons who are coinfected with HIV and HCV
  • Compare HCV treatment outcomes in coinfected persons vs. those who do not have HIV
  • Recognize the unique HCV treatment challenges that relate to HIV coinfection.

Topics covered include:

  • Prevalence of HCV in HIV-infected patients
  • Impact of HIV on HCV and vice versa
  • Coinfection treatment trial results
  • Barriers to treatment access
